Meet Mary-Jane Semakaleng Matlakala, Data Processor at FMTC!

How long have you worked at FMTC and what is your current role?

I have worked at FMTC since November 2018 as a data processor.

What do you like most about your job?

In addition to being able to work from home and be fully involved in my kids’ daily routine, I also enjoy working with co-workers who are always positive and willing to assist each other.

What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

Never be afraid of change as it is inevitable. See change as an opportunity to learn something new and embrace it.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

I enjoy long walks at the beach with my family, watching horror movies, listening to the Lumineers and traveling around South Africa.

What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

I collect sneakers, and I only wear flat shoes. I have one pair of heels that my sister gave me years back after I graduated specifically for job interviews. Let’s just say they are still new.

Where’s your favorite place in the world?

Anywhere in the forest or by the ocean.

What’s your motto or personal mantra?

You get what you give. Don’t expect 100% results if you put in 50% effort.

Name three words to best describe you?

Disciplined, positive and caring.

What is one thing you can’t live without?

My family.

What is your hometown?

I was born and raised in Polokwane, Limpopo Province of South Africa. I relocated years back to Melkbosstrand, Cape Town.
