Employee Spotlight Chrystal Roessler

How long have you worked at FMTC? What is your current role?

I just celebrated my five-year work anniversary this month. I started working for FMTC part time while also substitute teaching and taking care of my younger children. In the past few years, I’ve transitioned to full-time working on the Business Development team.

What do you like most about your job?

I love the flexibility that working from home provides while managing a busy schedule with three children and their activities. I also REALLY like the people I work with who listen to my ideas and provide me with new challenges daily.

What do you like to do when you are not working?

I like to spend time with my family hiking and being adventurous outdoors (although my teenagers no longer like to hike with us!). My favorite thing to do at the end of a long day is pour a glass of wine and open a book.

What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

I’m largely involved with scouting (both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts). I’ve been a scout leader for both my daughter and sons for over 10 years. I’m currently a Girl Scout leader for 15 sixth-grade girls, and I volunteer as a mentor to the Boy Scouts as an Eagle Scout guide and Advancement chair. Both of these scouting programs have taught my children invaluable life skills over the years.

Where’s your favorite place in the world?

In the woods. I’ve been on several backpacking trips and enjoy the peacefulness that comes along with nature. If not the woods, in a kayak on the river.

What is your hometown?

I was born and raised in Michigan. I currently reside in Macomb, MI, but have lived in many cities across the state, including Ann Arbor, the home of the Wolverines. GO BLUE!
