2018 Christmas Spending

Twitter Facebook Linked In Paper Plan

Christmas is only 1 week away and you can bet there are still some last-minute shoppers trying to find the perfect gift. Curious to know what shoppers planned on spending this year on gifts? The American Research Group conducted a study to find out just that.

2018 Planned Christmas Spending

The average planned spending for shoppers nationwide this year sits at $992. This is slightly higher than last year’s average of $983. This means that many shoppers don’t plan on spending over $1,000 and I’m sure they’re on the lookout for deals.

Out of all the shoppers interviewed, 67% off them said they planned on making purchases online. In addition, 61% said they plan on waiting until items go on sale before buying.

This means that there is still time to make those sales before Christmas. If you’re a merchant, I’d suggest creating some last-minute deals. This can be a sitewide coupon code, free shipping (especially before the Christmas shipping deadline), BOGOs, or even gifts with purchase.

I’m sure many people will want to avoid the crowds and long lines, so make sure your site and mobile apps are ready for last-minute shoppers. If you need any assistance with your deals in FMTC’s feed, feel free to reach out to [email protected] and we’ll make sure everything is up to date.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
