how to add deals in impact radius

Uploading links in Impact Radius (IR) is a relatively simple and straightforward process. The versatility of the IR platform, however, allows for a wide range of customizability when uploading promotions. Knowing which type of links you should use–and which types your Media Partners are using–might not be immediately evident. Media Partners can access your promotions via the Media Partner dashboard in the user interface (UI), or they can download your promotions via the Application Program Interface (API).

When your Media Partners access the Campaign Ads via the UI, all link types will be displayed.* Any Deal associated with a link will also be displayed in the UI. When accessed via the API, there are three primary calls used to download the promotions you are uploading: Deals, Ads, and PromotionalAds. “Deals” will only show the deals you have uploaded. “Ads” will by default show Text Links, Coupon Ads, and Banners. “PromotionalAds” will show only Ad links that have a deal associated with them. To get the widest exposure for your promotions, we recommend uploading your text promotions as Deals, Text Links, and Coupon Ads.

These can be customized further, but we will assume for the following that no modifications are being made to the Media Partner API call . The below is a basic how-to guide for uploading your promotional links.

Uploading Deals and Ads

To upload your links, you will first login to your Campaign Dashboard. Next, you will click Ads & Tracking, in the left side navigation pane, to reveal a list of dropdown options. We will only be concerning ourselves with “Ads” and “Deals.”

Uploading Deals

There are two ways to upload deals: 1) inputting them directly through the deal section in the UI, or 2) inputting deal information when creating your ad links, which we will discuss in greater detail in the next section. To do the former, you will click the blue Create Deal button at the top right of the Deals Dashboard.

There are four value inputs that remain constant when uploading Deals: Name, Description, Seasonal and Deal Type.

Name: The title you give your deal.

Description: The full details of the promotion.

Seasonal: If relevant, you can assign the appropriate value from the dropdown menu.

Deal Type: Select the most relevant choice from the dropdown menu of five options.

– General Sale, Free Shipping, Gift w/ Purchase, Rebate or BOGO. Each of these options will present you with different value fields to be filled in.

A fifth input, Deal Scope, will be present for all Deal Types except for BOGO. Through the Deal Scope, you will select the most relevant choice from the dropdown menu of three options – Entire Store, Category or Product. Each of these choices will then populate different value fields where you can provide more details on the promotional terms.

The other required inputs will also vary depending on which Deal Types and Deal Scope you choose.

Discount will only appear when using the General Sale. You can then set the customer savings as a fixed dollar amount, a fixed percent off, a percentage range or a percent maximum.

Default Promo Code appears with all Deal Types. Input the special code for the promotion, if applicable.

Minimum Purchase appears with all Deal Types, except BOGO. Input the value if applicable.

Maximum Savings appears with all Deal Types, except BOGO. Input the value if applicable.

Limited Time Deal appears with all Deal Types. You can input the date range and time zone for your promotion using the calendar icon pop-up.

The Gift field will appear when you select that Deal Type, input the promotional description here.

The Rebate field will appear when you select that Deal Type, input the rebate value in dollars here.

When you select the BOGO Deal Type you will be prompted to input the “Buy” and “Get” details. You will input the quantities and then choose from category or product, and input your promotional details. If you choose Product, you have the further option of including an image. You will also be prompted to specify whether the “Get” is Free, Amount Off or Percent Off.

There are also two more inputs hidden behind the “Show Advanced Settings” hyperlink:

Align Ads and Promo Codes: You can also associate your deals with any Tracking Promo Codes you may have in Promo Codes subsection of Ads & Tracking

Restrict Media Partner Access: You can also set your Deal as exclusive for select Media Partners. The deal will remain hidden from all other Media Partners.

If any of these fields are irrelevant to your specific promotion, simply make no changes to those fields, and they will be omitted from your link. When you are finished, click the blue “Save” button at the bottom of the page.

Deals form a sort of promotional umbrella, under which many different promotions may fall. You can assign multiple Ad links to one Deal when you are uploading your ad links.

Uploading Ad Links:

There are two ways to upload ads in IR. Ads can be input one at a time through the interface, or they can be uploaded in bulk with a CSV or Excel doc using the below format. (When bulk uploading, you will want to be sure you have created your deal links first, or you will have to manually add later to each Ad link.)

There are several types of links you can upload, depending on your specific promotions. As we stated above, all link types will be viewable to Media Partners who access the Ads section in the Media Partner UI. Media Partners who access “Ads” via the API will be shown Text Links, Coupon Links, and Banners unless they specify otherwise. Next, we will cover the uploading procedure for those three link types. Many of the steps and inputs will be the same or similar to Deal uploading. To start, you will click the blue “Create Ad” dropdown at the top right of the Ads Dashboard and select the link type you wish to create.

Text Links and Coupon Ads

Name: The title you give your deal.

Link Text: This is the text that will appear in the link HTML. Input your link display copy here.

Description: Input any other information or caveats that weren’t included with the link text.

Landing Page: This will default to the Campaign Landing Page that is set in your Company Information settings unless you select and input a Custom Landing Page.

Deal: If you have already input your deal you can assign it to your link by choosing it from the dropdown menu. If you are copying and pasting your details from a spreadsheet or other promotional calendar, it is a bit faster to create the related deal at the same time as the link. While you have your promotional copy on your clipboard, after you have pasted that data in the relevant link inputs, choose Add new deal and you can paste the info again in Name and Description.

After you have filled out the Deal details–utilizing the same steps as above–you will click save, and it will return you to the link upload page where you can continue filling in the remaining fields:

Labels: Add keywords related to your promotion.

Available Dates: Set active dates and your preferred time zone.

Seasonal: If relevant, you can assign the appropriate value from the dropdown menu.

Top Seller: Toggle the switch icon to set as “Yes” if applicable.

As with the Deals, there are also more inputs hidden behind the “Show Advanced Settings” hyperlink:

Language: Choose appropriate language from the dropdown menu.

Tracking Code (Text Links only): IR links default to both HTML and iFrame Tracking Code, by selecting toggle Media Partners will be limited to iFrame tracking only.

Deep Linking: Selecting toggle will allow Media Partners to override the landing page URL assigned to the link.

Once you have input all your relevant details, click the blue “save” button. If you have more links to upload you can select “Save and create another,” and follow the same steps above. You can also create a new link utilizing the same settings. If you want to save a partially completed form, but do not yet want to submit, you can save your link as a draft.

Banner Upload

When uploading banners, you will repeat most of the same steps as with the other Ad link types, with the addition of the image upload itself. There are three ways you can input the banners you wish to use in your campaign: Uploading a saved file, using a Third-Party hosted image or with Custom HTML.

When uploading saved images, you have the ability to create only one link with multiple images assigned to that one promotion. To do this, you will first choose “Browse” to select one of your images. Next, you will check the box one the line below where it says: “Upload more banners with the same ad settings.” You can then drag and drop your remaining banners or select “upload files” and repeat the previous step.

If you are using an image that is already hosted, select the Third-party hosted image option and input the image URL and specify the banner size.

The Custom HTML option can be used when you already have a code template that utilizes third-party servers (e.g., DART or ATLAS). IR’s instructions for this step require users to include the IR click URL token in the ad template to make sure it tracks through the system.

Available tokens are:

{click_url_encoded} – click url encoded, {click_url} – click url not encoded, {timestamp} – timestamp, {irpid} – media partner id, {ircid} – campaign id, {iradid} – ad id, {randint} – random integer

To ensure that the right information is getting to the right places, we highly recommend you communicate regularly with your Media Partners. It would be wise to survey them to determine how they are using the links and also make sure they know the methods you are utilizing as well, to make sure that no one is missing out on the opportunity to drive more sales for you!

*When Media Partners access the Ads section of the UI, your links will be displayed from most to least popular by default. The most popular link in most Campaigns will be the default, generic tracking-link that is supplied to all Media Partners when your Campaign is created. To find the most recently added promotions, Media Partners will need to sort the ad previews by “Last Updated” column. To see the most recently added links, “Last Updated” will need to be clicked twice. (Links downloaded via the API will also show the most recent links at the bottom of the results.)
