Affiliate Marketing Industry News Roundup 4-28-2016

Thanks for checking out this week’s edition of the Affiliate Marketing Industry News Roundup! I’ve collected some interesting and timely pieces from around the interwebs.

As always, if you have an affiliate marketing industry story that you’d like us to share, there is a submission link at the end of this post.

Consumer-generated content is everywhere. Consumers post everything from comprehensive reviews to pictures of the products they’ve bought or plan to buy. This activity is a major driver of sales and product engagement in the e-commerce space. A report from BazaarVoice examines the impact of this sort of content.

This report, which details the previous year’s mobile usage and stats, was compiled by leveraging data from our vast network of more than 3,000 advertisers and 30,000 publishers.

In addition to benchmark statistics in over 30 categories across the four major verticals—Retail, Home Services, Travel and Finance—the report offers mobile strategies for both publishers and advertisers.

Key 2015 findings in the report include:

  • U.S. sales on smartphones increased 132% YOY
  • The average growth of mobile clicks increased 124% YOY
  • Mobile sales in the retail vertical increased 177% YOY

“Ten years ago, when I was writing my very first book on affiliate marketing, I greatly struggled with the lack of statistical data on this industry, and quoted lack of research on it in my first interviews too.

In this day and age, however, there is plenty of great data out there; and today I bring you my compilation of 20 bite-sized Tweetable nuggets (each representing an interesting stat related to affiliate marketing). I hope you will find them as fascinating as I did.”

“High-converting landing pages consist of three action-driving stages: before, during, and after.

Tragically, when many content marketers build landing pages, they focus on just one stage: during.

But if you don’t invest effort into what happens before and after you present your landing page, it doesn’t stand a chance of achieving the results you want.”

If you’ve run blogger campaigns with us already, you know that the bid panel (the place where you see all of the influencers who want to work on your campaign, along with their stats and fees) is a great resource.

It’s very easy to scan when you have a handful of bids. But, most of you are getting more than a handful – you’re getting 30, 60, even 90 bids on your campaigns. That makes the bid panel very, very long and very, very hard to manage – until now.
